Abu Dhabi Airport - Matching Global Standards!

Abu Dhabi is the second largest city in UAE. The city is in the form of T-shaped Island that juts into the Persian Gulf. The city has grown exponentially in past few years. Not only in terms of the population but also in terms of development, the city has touched new heights. The destination is famous all over the world for not only its tourist attractions but also employment opportunities offered. Visitors reach here using the services of cheap airline flights.
Abu Dhabi is the capital of United Arab Emirates, and its international airport is located in the city that matches global standards. Its IATA code is AUH. As far as the number of passengers is concerned, this airport is growing with leaps and bounds. In the year 2008, approximately 34% increase in passengers was registered. Development in infrastructure and addition of airline operators has also enhanced substantially. Currently, the airport is undergoing expansion and for this project about US$6.8 billion have been earmarked.
UAE's second largest airport, Abu Dhabi airport, served about 11 million passengers in the year 2010. Etihad Airways is the second biggest carrier after Emirates in United Arab Emirates. Terminal 3 is the latest terminal, and it opened in January 2009. This terminal has the capacity to handle about 12 million passengers annually. This level is expected to reach by 2011. Many international airlines ply their services from this airport.
A new passenger terminal is soon to be added to the Abu Dhabi airport. The development work is already underway, and it is going to be set amidst two runways. It will be named Midfield Terminal. This terminal is expected to be ready by the end of 2016. The capacity of handling passengers is going to touch approximately 20 million annually after this terminal comes into use. Passengers coming through various flights to Abu Dhabi will be using this terminal.
